Knockoff Fashion

When it comes to knockoff’s, they are seen and bought because they are able to give status to the customer that buys it.  Throughout the years it has become more and more common to have designer brands.  From brands like Dolce and Gabbona to Dior the opportunities are endless to get fake designer shoes or dresses or purses.  It is because of knockoff’s being so common, that customers and people in the fashion world are able to identify the signs if it is in fact a knockoff.  When you see a couture product it can be a knockoff by looking at its workmanship, the logo, the price, location, and the feel of the product. For example, if you were to look at a Chanel bag that was in a TJ Maxx, if the seams don’t match the fabric that is a huge sign the bag is most likely fake.

One huge example of another brand that has a lot of instances with other stores making knockoffs with their logo and brand is Gucci.  In past years, Gucci has been adding to the “trend” of making knockoff or counterfeit logos on different kinds of clothing, and taking credit for it.  They just released and styled their own Guccy logo and have put this in a shop and did it to patronage and give attention to what these counterfeit stores have been doing.  It is a very strong move for a high-end brand like Gucci to be able to say hey people are doing this and since they aren’t stopping might as well buy into it, and make a little joke about it.

In my opinion, I believe that knockoff products are definitely a huge problem for brands and labels because there are so many in existence.  It is really something that can either been seen as bringing down the different company’s profits, or they can turn it around on people like Gucci has done and benefit from it.  Either way, it is something that gives people who couldn’t normally afford huge name brands the opportunity to be confident walking down the street, which I think is a pretty powerful thing.  I think that Gucci is being very smart and if I had a high-end designer brand I would be making separate lines just for this rare side of the fashion market.
