When it comes to luxury brands, there are a lot of strategic ways to plan out how you brand is seen. With brands like Prada, Louis Vuitton, or Gucci the simpler their brand, the better it is seen in our society. This could be with their store locations, how the store is laid out, or even how their logo is seen. It is interesting to think about how the brands that have such big reputations only to show three of their products in a store. Many people say that these stores are really turning into museums where customers only come in to look at the store and be able to say they have been. It is a very weird concept, that not many people think about.
When it comes to the stereotype that couture brands are a really seen as museums Prada takes the cake. In a store like Prada, they have something called Prada MARFA. MARFA is a store that is in the middle of nowhere to be considered a work of “art”. The store really isn’t a store, but a display with ten left shoes, and purses that don’t have bottoms. It is seen as a sculpture that provokes people to either feel the need to give bad or good comments. Which means that people choose to either vandalize it or the tourists that visit turn it into their own personal photo shoot. From there a movement was started and Target did the same thing. It really seems like the “art” piece ended up being a way for Prada to say, we are different and not a museum brand.
When we think of brands like Prada although we might not buy anything, it also is an experience of feeling high in society just to step in the store. Even if Prada can try to define its markets stereotype, the public opinion still stays the same, you are cool to own their products. Our society idolizes all of what is deemed to make you be rich or important. But, in my opinion I think these brands are quickly becoming like a dream for the world because of the prices. Although, nothing beats the feeling of walking into one of those stores and feeling like you can feel like a celebrity.
